Hi Buzz,
Sorry for the delay. I have been in Vancouver visiting my sick mom for the last 4 days.
Please find enclosed a draft of the tutorial document for the November 2005 IEEE 802 Plenary Session. Please review and let me know ASAP if I can post this info onto the IEEE 802 November 2005 event portal.

Dawn, Can we put out a Tutorial List to reflect our current assignments to date ??? Several people would appear to like an update of what we have so far.
Thanx, Buzz

Chang-Hee Lee:
I believe it has been scheduled for Tuesday evening, but I have not yet seen the tutorial schedule and therefore don't know if it will be in the first or second slot (6:30pm or 8:00pm).

Dear Bob,
I returned to Korea after attending a conference at Scotland. I wish you already fixed the tutorial schedule. Is it possible to have the schedule?
Thank for your support and help.
Best regards
Chang-Hee Lee.

Dear Bob,
Thank you for your consideration and comments. We understood that the study group is formed after approval of the CFI. I revised the abstract. Please use the modified one. For tutorial, I will explain the technical aspect of the WDM-PON including field trial results at the end of presentation. For presenters, I will be main one. I add Wayne Sorin as a second presenter, just in case I cannot travel to US.
Best regards
Chang-Hee Lee

Buzz, Paul, Dawn:
These folk have been in email contact with me for some time, and they went out of their way to met me in New Jersey last week. They are interested in starting work within 802.3, but have not yet attended an 802.3 meeting. Our Call for Interest process requires that the CFI come from a (voting) member of IEEE 802.3, and though I have provided them with contact information for a few 802.3 members, they have not recruited any of them to initiate the CFI. (I don't know how hard they have tried to do this.)
Buzz, there are individuals from two different companies involved, "multiple viewpoints" has not been a make-or-break item for most of our tutorials. My concern was if this is of sufficient general interest to IEEE 802, but I believe it meets most of the criteria in the Chair's Guideline for Tutorials.
The individuals participating have been struggling to understand how thing work with IEEE 802 and within IEEE 802.3. I have attempted to clarify for them the difference between an IEEE 802 tutorial and an IEEE 802.3 Call for Interest, apparently with little success as evidenced by the last sentence of the abstract.
Chang-Hee, please note that IEEE 802.3 only studies things in a study group. A study group can only be launched through a CFI intiated per the IEEE 802.3 rules. A tutorial may cover technology appropriate for standardization, but it cannot be used to start an IEEE 802.3 study group.
All that said, I am willing to sponsor the tutorial in the spirit of international outreach. I do not know what other requests you have for the November tutorial slots and how this one compares for general IEEE 802 interest. I respectfully request that you include consideration of the international nature of this tutorial request in your deliberation and selection of November tutorials.
Bob Grow
Chair, IEEE 802.3

Paul, And a bit more diversity in the affiliations of the presenters would be a good thing too, don'cha think ???

Dear Chang,
Before we can approve this as an 802 tutorial, I need an explicit request from Bob Grow, chair of 802.3 WG, to hold it. Please verify with Bob that he approves, have him send me, Buzz and FtF the request and then we'll load it on to the agenda.
Regards,
