Dear colleagues,
I would like to request the review of the following two draft IEEE 802 LMSC submissions by Monday 28 October 2024, A.O.E, before asking the LMSC to tentatively consider approval of these two submissions via the 10-day letter ballots: 1) Japan MIC's consultation on frequency reorganization plan 2) Belgium BIPT's consultation on UWB
1) Japan MIC's consultation on frequency reorganization plan On 30 September 2024, Japan MIC issued a consultation that seeks public opinion on its latest version of the frequency reorganization plan. Of possible interest to us include: a) to consider expanded use of 5.2 GHz for WLAN b) to consider the feasibility of frequency sharing of the use of narrowband devices in the 5925 MHz to 6425 MHz band c) to consider the feasibility of outdoor WLAN operation in the 6 GHz, including the 6425 MHz to 7125 MHz as well as AFC.
A couple of 802.18 participants prepared a response with an opinion that commands the administration's effort. The draft response also encourages the administration to initiate authorization proceedings for standard power RLAN under supervision of AFC, and adopt the client-to-client communications as soon as possible.
The submission was reviewed and approved by IEEE 802.18 on 24 October 2024 with the following voting results: 12 Yes, 0 No, 1 Abstain.

2) Belgium BIPT's consultation on UWB On 3 October 2024, Belgium's telecom administration, BIPT, issued a consultation that seeks public opinions on radio interfaces related to devices using the ultra wideband technology (UWB). When compared with the existing technical conditions, this consultation proposes: 1) to modify a few existing rules (B20-01 to B20-11) for generic use of UWB to avoid redundancy; 2) to propose a new category (B23-14) concerning vehicle applications in the 6 GHz to 8.5 GHz band, including applications that involve infrastructure-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-vehicle communications; 3) to propose 12 new categories (B29-01 to B29-11) concerning specific applications involving fixed outdoor installations for specific radiodetermination, localization, tracing and data acquisition; 4) to propose a new category (B29-12) concerning specific applications involving enhanced indoor devices for specific radiodetermination, localization, tracing and data acquisition.
Similar to our previous approved response to Qatar CRA and Oman TRA, we prepared a response that commands the administration's effort and provides with the administration the latest progress of IEEE 802.15.4ab.
The submission was reviewed and approved by IEEE 802.18 on 24 October 2024 with the following voting results: 11 Yes, 1 No, 1 Abstain.
