Colleagues,
The IEEE 802.3 WG provides the following comments on the PARs/CSDs under consideration at the March 2024 Plenary meeting:
With regards,

Chair, IEEE 802.3 PAR review Ad Hoc
802.1ASeb - Amendment: Optional Use of Announce
PAR Comments:
5.2.b Editorial.
Suggested revision for consideration: “This amendment provides additions and modifications to enable the Announce message functionality to be optional on new implementations, while maintain the ability implementations to support
backward compatibility, interoperability, and full conformance with IEEE Std 1588™-2019. Protocols, procedures, and managed objects are updated if and as required to reflect the availability and use of Announce.
This amendment also includes technical and editorial corrections in the description of existing IEEE Std 802.1AS functionality.”
In 8.1:
Suggested revision for consideration is to change second to last item (reference to 6.1.2) to be the fully qualified name “IEEE Std 802.1d IEEE Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks: Overview and Architecture Amendment
1: Allocation of Uniform Resource Name (URN) Values in IEEE 802® Standards”
CSD Comments:

CSD Comments
1.2.1 Broad Market Potential
Item b – multiple vendors and numerous users: There is no supporting information on the amount of interest from potential Task Force participants. For example, the number of people in the IEEE 802.11 Ambient Power (AMP) TIG/SG that would participate
in the project, if approved.
Readability suggestion: 'AMP Communication tackles addresses ...' to 'AMP Communication addresses ...' or 'AMP Communication tackles...'.
Readability suggestion: '... to support creation of ...' to '... to support the creation of ...'.
Readability suggestion: '... and thus maintenance free ...' to '... and thus maintenance-free ...'.
Readability suggestion: '... a CAGR of 11.9% from 2022 to 2030 Error! Reference source not found..', need to add missing reference.
Readability suggestion: '... invested more than 150-billion-yuan ...' to '... invested more than 150 billion yuan ...'.
Readability suggestion: '... adding to the expected growth of number of devices ...' to '... adding to the expected growth of the number of devices ...'.
1.2.3: Distinct Identity
Typo: ‘or evern lower’ to ‘or even lower’
Consistency issue “…other than this amendment.” The amendment is not yet approved. Change to “…other than this proposed amendment.”
1.2.5 Economic Feasibility
Item c: one location. Consistency issue “this amendment..” change to “this proposed amendment”
Item d: three locations. Consistency issue “this amendment..” change to “this proposed amendment”
