Dear EC members,
I would like to request the review of the following draft IEEE 802 LMSC submission by Sunday, 12 November 2023, A.O.E, before asking the EC to consider approval of the submission in the November 2023 opening plenary on Monday, 13 November 2023.
Recently, the Telecom Regulatory of India (TRAI) began a consultation “Consultation Paper on Open and De-licensed use of Unused or Limited Used Spectrum Bands for Demand Generation for Limited Period in Tera Hertz Range”, which asks for public opinions in whether to follow India's Department of Telecommunications' recommendation in permitting license-exempt operation in selected TeraHertz (THz) bands.
A few individuals prepared a response that asked the administration to consider permitting licence-exempt operation between 252 GHz and 450 GHz, based on the IEEE 802.15.3-2023 standards. The submission was reviewed and approved by IEEE 802.18 earlier today (9 November 2023) with the following voting results: 9 Yes, 0 No, 2 Abstain.
