Thanks for the reminder and clarification, John.
My remarks (and Mark's and George's) apply to the next time we choose to have the "all 802" tutorial, and perhaps for our tutorial planning moving forward.
Cheers all.
Ben

Requests are sent to the Standards Committee email reflector no earlier than the end of the plenary session immediately preceding the plenary session in which the tutorial is requested. Requests shall be sent no later than 45 days in advance of the start of plenary session in which they are to be presented.
We are now inside that 45 day window – so there is no tutorial request for March – thus we are not having one.

I share similar thoughts as Mark and George. Monday night is also a prime time for informal collaboration related to standards development. For those of us for whom developing content, which includes building consensus and working out technical details, this collaboration takes priority over tutorials. For many of us it isn't just about having time to grab dinner, but using that dinner time to work on the interpersonal aspects of getting things done in an individual participation SDG. Monday night is when I catch up with folks with whom I need to work to prepare for the rest of the week and who were not available earlier (believe it or not some folks don't show up on Sunday for the various leadership meetings - weird huh?).
At least that's my excuse for missing most of the Monday tutorials.

Mark – thank you for saying that. I had the same feeling last time, and watched the in-room audience dwindle, resulting in what Clint says below. If we want people to attend this, I would put it in the middle (rather than first or last), but I’m personally for waiting the March meeting out. This information should not be a ‘high-rate-of-change’. Once a year would be a reasonable update rate, IMHO.

Just a bit of insight perhaps, from my personal perspective: Given no break from 16:00 until 22:00+ (if all the tutorial slots are used), I end up having to choose something to skip to be able to get any dinner. Assuming the other tutorial topics are of interest to me personally/to my employer, I am likely to skip a “status update” as the least of the evils to be forced to miss it.
So, I don’t think it’s lack of interest, but a lack of any break at all, that is killing this idea.

All, I agree, aside from the presenters it was pretty thin. I’d say there was less than 10 others. WG15 would even go so far as to offer to allow this to go 1st, before the tutorial on TG3mb in March. This way going forward we know whether it’s really more the time or interest? The other option is we skip a plenary and wait until July, but also target the 1st Tutorial slot.

Hi Glenn and all,
If we have another tutorial on WG and TAG status update, I hope we can have a time slot with more participants. Just my 2-cent thought.
