I'm also confused by the "Employer" Columns in the spreadsheet. As I understand, IMAT collects affiliation, not employer. The Standards Board Operations Manual doesn't talk about disclosing employer. It says: 5.1.2.3 Disclosure of affiliation The Sponsor is responsible for ensuring that participants are notified of their obligation to disclose their affiliation(s), which includes employer(s) and any other affiliation(s). Each participant's affiliation(s) shall be disclosed during any standards development activity (e.g., during meetings and Sponsor balloting). My understanding is that an employment relationship can be a form of affiliation but that the declaration is only about affiliation. The FAQ distinguishes the two. I'm not comfortable with distributing a "best practices guide". It can either repeat the FAQ or contradict the FAQ; either way, it just makes it more difficult for the members, who have to study both. I think it could potentially add value if it were strictly limited to material that is not covered in the FAQ; for example, when (if ever) it is necessary to disclose or collect employer data.
