Dear Colleagues, Further to email from Jon I have requested three agenda items for the Tuesday 4th October IEEE 802 teleconference meeting based on action taken at the IEEE 802.3 interim last week. They are: [1] IEEE 802.3 standards for adoption under ISO/IEC PSDO agreement; [2] IEEE 802.3 standards for review under ISO/IEC PSDO agreement; and [3] Request for a category "D" liaison with IEC TC64/PT716 DC power distribution over Information Technology Cable Infrastructure. I have provided more detail below. Best regards, David [1] IEEE 802.3 standards for adoption under ISO/IEC PSDO agreement ------------------------------------------------------------------ Based on the recent publication of IEEE Std 802.3by-2016 25 Gb/s Ethernet on 29th July 2016, IEEE Std 802.3bq-2016 25G/40GBASE-T on 8th September 2016, and IEEE P802.3bp-2016 1000BASE-T1 on 9th September 2016, IEEE 802.3 has voted to submit these standards for adoption by ISO/IEC JTC1 SC6 under the PSDO. IEEE 802.3 Working Group vote: Y: 67, N 0, A: 0 [2] IEEE 802.3 standards for review under ISO/IEC PSDO agreement ---------------------------------------------------------------- Based on the IEEE P802.3bu 1-Pair Power over Data Lines (PoDL) and IEEE P802.3bv Gigabit Ethernet Over Plastic Optical projects progressing to sponsor ballot, IEEE 802.3 has voted to submit these drafts to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC6 for review in anticipation that the published standards will be submitted to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC6 for adoption under the PSDO process. The liaison letter approved by IEEE 802.3 to inform ISO/IEC JTC1 SC6 of the availability of these drafts for review is attached. IEEE 802.3 Working Group vote: Y: 67, N 0, A: 0 [3] IEC TC64/PT716 DC power distribution over Information Technology Cable Infrastructure ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In response to a liaison letter from IEEE 802.3 in July to IEC TC64 in respect to power delivery over communications cabling <http://ieee802.org/3/minutes/jul16/outgoing/IEEE_802d3_to_IEC_TC64_0716.pdf> we were asked if we wanted to set up a category D liaison with IEC TC64/PT716 DC power distribution over Information Technology Cable Infrastructure <http://www.iec.ch/dyn/www/f?p=103:38:5126223945859>. Information about a category "D" liaison can be found at <http://www.iec.ch/standardsdev/how/partners/cat_d.htm> but in summary a Category D liaison organizations have the right to participate as full members in a project team and the Category D liaison expert acts as the official representative of the organization by which they are appointed. Based on this, and on a draft letter Jodi Haasz kindly provided us cover the areas needed to request an IEC Category D liaison, IEEE 802.3 approved the attached letter requesting a Category D liaison with IEC TC64/PT716. Since subclause 3.4.1 'Chair' of the 'Policies and Procedures for: IEEE LMSC 802 Working Groups and Technical Advisory Groups' item u states 'Maintain liaison with other organizations at the direction of the Sponsor or at the discretion of the Working Group Chair with the approval of the Sponsor' I'm seeking IEEE 802 Executive Committee approval of this request. IEEE 802.3 Working Group vote: Y: 61, N: 0, A: 2 ---------- This email is sent from the 802 Executive Committee email reflector. This list is maintained by Listserv.
