Roger and Geoff,
These edits seem consistent with what RR-TAG's mission. The drafts developed need to accommodate differences between the various 802 WGs as feasible while still meeting contribution deadlines.
Best regards,
Mike

Geoff,
It’s hard for me to understand how the TAG’s mission can include providing notice to itself. That’s why I tried splitting the idea in two:
-inviting WGs to notify the TAG
-sharing that information
See what you think of this alternative:
Dra ft IEEE 802 Radio Regulatory TAG Mission statement:
• Internal communication
• provide a forum to share information on regulatory matters among Working Groups
• encourage Working Groups to promptly contribute and discuss reports on activities and identified regulatory issues
• gather additional information regarding relevant regulatory issues
• notify Working Groups of relevant regulatory inquiries, activities and timelines
• notification should be made as information becomes available rather than based on meeting schedule
• provide expert advice to improve Working Group positions during review
• Represent IEEE 802 as the leader in wireless access networking development
• Provide regulators with roadmap and rationale for new standards work
• Develop a relationship with regulators that encourages dialogs, both formal and informal
• develop common 802 positions, accommodating differences among 802 subgroups, as feasible in accordance with deadlines
• draft regulatory inputs on topics involving multiple Working Groups
Roger
Roger-
Thank you very much for starting this off.
I have added in red what I had in mind.
My point for my addition being that the information flow is FROM one WG to the TAG (which presumably gets it to the other WGs)
Geoff
Pat,
I agree with Geoff’s point. Here is a proposed edit to address it:
Dra ft IEEE 802 Radio Regulatory
TAG Mission statement:
• Internal communication
• provide early notice to the RRTAG of radio regulatory related work in the Working Groups
• invite Working Groups to contribute and discuss reports on activities and identified regulatory issues
• gather and share additional information regarding relevant regulatory issues
Roger
Pat-
My view, which seems to be shared by others, is that part of the
mission should be to be a forum where each WG reports to the others the activities and issues that have come up in the WG. It seems to me that it is in the interest of 802 as a whole (via 802.18) to know what is of interest and/or what is going on in the
regulatory/spectrum area.
Actually, I was kind of charmed by the presence of the word "Drat" in an EC e-mail.
Geoff
Geoff,
My “f’ key was misbehaving. I caught most of them but missed one.
I’m not sure what you want me to add regarding your further suggestion. This is about the TAG Mission, not the WG’s obligations.
Bullets c and d under 2 already cover its role coordinating between Working Groups to develop joint positions.
Regards,
Pat

"Drat IEEE 802 Radio Regulatory Mission statement:
-
Internal communication
-
notify Working Groups of relevant regulatory inquiries, activities and timelines
-
notification should be made as information becomes available rather than based on meeting schedule
-
provide expert advice to improve Working Group positions during review"
Further, it sounds as if the internal mission is all communication TO the Working groups.
There should also be a mission element of using the group to communicate BETWEEN working groups.
That is, part of the mission should be for a WG to notify all other concerned WGs upon which it is taking up work in the hope that work will be coordinated during creation.
The draft Radio Regulatory TAG Mission statement is on Mentor in the IEEE 802 EC Docs
