All,
Based upon my experience I agree with Juan-Carlos. There also normally is a third element in regulatory agencies today that deals with financial aspects, e.g. license fees, auctions. This distinction could play a bigger role in the selection process, depending on the important topics to be discussed at the meeting.

Juan Carlos

Interesting perspective, Geoff – but not one that matches my personal experience. I suspect if I did a count in my employer’s organization, I’d find more software (application, driver, firmware, dsp, test, simulation) folks than hardware folks.

Glenn-
Why would the IETF/ISOC (which is largely a software organization) list be appropriate for 802 (which is a largely hardware based organization)?

Colleagues,
I would like to seek a volunteer from the EC to join me on the fellowship selection adhoc.
This is to help down select from candidates identified from the IETF/ISOC fellowship list.
Let me know if you are interested.
Cheers, Glenn.

Thanks folks.
The trial plan is for the next two plenary meetings. Assuming the IETF/ISOC collaboration can be sorted and the value proposition holds, I would expect this to become regular program.
I will suggest to staff that we consider a lunch event instead of a welcome dinner. Else I appreciate the flexibility on the rules meeting.
Cheers, Glenn.

I’ll be arriving Saturday so lunch on Sunday could work if the representatives will arrive early enough. The alternative is to move the rules meeting because it seems unlikely that we could have dinner over early enough to end before it.
Is the plan to do this every plenary? Could we consider moving the rules meeting to a rules teleconference a week or two before the plenary (avoiding the IETF meeting)?
Regards, Pat

Hello Glen,
I think this is a really good idea, Kudos to you for making it happen. I’ll help where I can. We have a schedule of events on Sundays: 2:00pm – 802.11 exec 4:00-5:30 – Wireless Chairs SC 6:00-7:30 – 802.11 CAC ??7:30pm-late?? 802 rules ad-hoc
If necessary we could move the 802.11 exect. Perhaps a lunch meeting on the Sunday?

Hi Glenn, I think that having the interested officials come is great. I am happy to assist, but we have meetings on Sunday evening that would preclude some of the EC from participation. I do not know of another time to make a dinner work other than a Tuesday evening possibly (from my schedule) but others will surely have problems with that date as well. I applaud the direction, but have concerns with a plan for reception on Sunday. my .02 Jon
