[802SEC] Request from Jennie Steinhagen for contacts in San Diego (IEEE 802 University Outreach Program)
Dear IEEE 802 EC:
I am writing to ask if you know of any university or college professors in the Greater San Diego area who might be interested in learning more about, attending, and/or inviting their students to attend the July 2014 San Diego IEEE 802 University Outreach Program. We are especially interested in professors who specialize in either engineering or business curricula but would appreciate any leads.
The IEEE 802 University Outreach Program takes place during the IEEE 802 Plenary and offers students and professors an incredible career-building opportunity. The program makes it easy, and affordable ($25), to acquire more knowledge about IEEE 802 Working Groups and the standards they have developed and are developing, including IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet) and IEEE 802.11 (commonly known as Wi-Fi).
The IEEE 802 University Outreach Program will be held on 15 July at the Grand Hyatt Manchester in San Diego, CA. During the full-day event, students and faculty will begin to:
---Increase their understanding of the important role that standards play within engineering technology
---Discover firsthand how IEEE 802 standards are developed and maintained
---Get involved with IEEE Standards Education Committee programs, including Student Application Paper grants
We request that you please share any San Diego contacts with us by replying to this e-mail. Thank you in advance for your time and for your support of standards education!
Best regards,
Jennie Steinhagen
