Re: [802SEC] +++ EC motion to approve 802.11 Tiger Team DSRC letter to FCC OET +++

Mike,

I vote approve

But I have a few comments.

1.       The motion should originate from someone other than Paul. I believe you meant to put your name as the mover.

2.       Your characterization of the source is misleading. The letter did indeed originate in an 802.11 DSRC tiger team composed of about 40 members but subsequently went through further review in the Regulatory Standing Committee and the full working group during our mid-week plenary where it passed unanimously with  173 members present.

Subject: [802SEC] +++ EC motion to approve 802.11 Tiger Team DSRC letter to FCC OET +++

Dear EC,

On Thursday,  January 24th, IEEE 802.18 reviewed and approved a letter from the IEEE 802.11 DSRC Coexistence Tiger Team to the FCC. The document, 18-14-0007-01-0000-dsrc-coexistence-tt-status-letter-to-oet, can be found on the RR-TAG Mentor web site. The document was approved by a vote of 6 yes, 0 no and 0 abstentions and will, with necessary edits and formatting changes made by the IEEE 802.18 chair, be forwarded by Paul to the Chief of the FCC’s OET.

The purpose of this letter is to update the FCC on the status of the work on Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) within the Tiger Team and to hopefully deter the FCC from publishing a rule making until the Tiger Team determines if a solution can be developed.

Paul has given me permission to conduct an EC ten day email ballot to approve his submitting this letter to the Chief of the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology.

Motion:

“To approve, under OM Subclause 8.2, document 18-14-0007-01 subject to the early close provision of OM Subclause 4.1.2.."

Moved: Paul Nikolich

Seconded: Bruce Kraemer

Comments are to be submitted to the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology ASAP.

The ballot will start January 24th and end on February 2nd.

Best regards,

Mike
