Re: [802SEC] +++ 10-day EC Email Ballot +++ IEEE 802 Comments Regarding the use of LTE in the 902 - 928 MHz Frequency Band
Mike
I will vote yes on this in the spirit of moving it along, but also
in the spirit of correctness and completeness, I would like to see item 8
changed to read as shown below, assuming there are no objections.
8. Indoor location services are currently
available that use cellular mobile, Wi-Fi or
ZigBee technology to improve performance in indoor environments,
where GPS isn't always effective. These approaches use systems and
infrastructure that is already widely available. Large scale deployment
of Wi-Fi ZigBee and cellular mobile
equipment have already resulted in cost effective, widely deployed
location-based services, and future development of application software
is likely to improve present performance over time for indoor
environments.
ZigBee, based on 15.4, is performing this function in a large variety of
building settings world wide as part of the building's wireless sensor
and control network. I would have brought this up on the call but it was
not at a China friendly time.

Bob

I vote Approve, with a few editorial suggestions, all in Paragraph
14:
counter example => counterexample
single use => single-use
roll out = rollout

Dear EC,
Paul has delegated the conduct of an EC electronic ballot on the
following motion to me. I am announcing the possibility of an 'early
close' to this ballot (see below).
For background 802.18 held a conference call on September 5th. A
notification that the call would be held was sent to the RR-TAG
membership on August 22nd. During the call a response to the FCC
regarding the use of the 902 - 928 MHz frequency band for a LTE based
Multilateration and Location and Monitoring Service (M-LMS) was developed
and approved. There was a quorum on the call and the final vote was yes
6, no 0, abstain 1. A total of nine persons participated seven of whom
hold 802.18 voting rights.
The motion is:
?To approve Document 18-12-0082-02 for submittal to the US FCC per sub
clause 8.2.1 of the IEEE 802 LMSC Operations Manual, providing IEEE 802?s
comments regarding the operation of a LTE based Multilateration and
Location and Monitoring Service (M-LMS) in the 902 ? 908 MHz frequency
band.

Seconded by: Bruce Kraemer
Ballot start: September 8th, 2012
Ballot end: September 17th, 10:00 p.m. ET US
Document 18-12-0082-02 can be found on the 802.18 Mentor web
site:https://mentor.ieee.org/802.18/documents/
Early close: As required in sub clause 4.1.2.2 'Electronic Balloting' of
the IEEE Project 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC) Operations
Manual, this is notice that this ballot may close early once sufficient
responses are received to clearly decide the matter.
