Recognizing the desire of some users to facilitate recording of partial
attendance in IMAT, a suggested course of action is:
- Document the requirements and rational
- Requirements and rational approved by IEEE 802 EC
- Requirements and rational approved by IEEE-SA Governance
- Identify Funding
- Based on the requirements, determine the cost
- Identify the budget
- Project is scheduled by IEEE (contingent upon funding/budget)

Christina,
Another "me too" from me. The group that I chair (802.18) allows
attendees
to obtain credit in their home groups by attending 802.18. In many cases
they attend when documents from their WG are being presented and again
when votes are being taken on those documents. Yes, it is possible for
someone to be a valid 802.18 voter and also a voter in 802.xx.
The system needs to support attendance that is "split" between 802.18 and
any other WG that has agreed to that process.
Regards,
Mike

I agree with Pat, that not only have we requested, it is required by the
rules.
Who made the decision not to implement this required feature?

Christina,
I'm disappointed that an improvement that we have requested for as
long as IEEE 802 has used IMAT has not been included in the update.
That is the ability to claim partial attendance (i.e. attendance for
less than 75%) for a meeting. The attendance database as it is focuses
only on recording attendance for purposes of gaining and maintaining
voting membership in the Working Group but that is not the only need
for attendance records.
The IEEE Standards Board Operations Manual 5.3.3.1 requires a list
of attendees for the minutes of each meeting: "The minutes of each
working group or project meeting shall record a list of attendees and
the disclosed affiliation of each attendee."
In the example shown in slide 10 of the attendee screen shots, an
attendee may have spent some time in each meeting attending greater
than 75% of one and less than 75% of the other (or less than 75% in
each). An attendee that participated in less than 75% of a meeting
still has heard presentations and debate and may have participated in
votes and debates. That attendance needs to be recorded for the
minutes.
In order to comply with the Standards Board Operations Manual and
serve as an attendance record for voting membership, the database
needs to allow for recording attendance at two levels - partial
attendance (i.e. less than 75%) and full attendance (greater than
75%). Handling for full attendance would be the same as now (i.e.
only one concurrent or overlapping meeting can have full attendance).
Multiple concurrent meetings can have partial attendance and claiming
full attendance for an overlapping meeting demotes another concurrent
full attendance meeting to partial attendance (rather than to no
attendance as it does now.)

802 Wireless Interim in Atlanta
Attention IEEE 802 Working Group Chairs and Officers
Over the past few months the SA Staff has been working with a few
802 Working Group members to enhance the IMAT application. We have
gathered requirements, documented, planned, scheduled, and alpha
tested the "new" IMAT application. I am happy to announce that the
team will be using the new features in a beta test during the Wireless
Interim in Atlanta May 13 - 17, 2012. IEEE Staff (Christina Boyce,
Greg Marchini, and Jeric Newby) will be on site to ensure a smooth
beta test. Pending results from the beta test, our plan is to
decommission the "old" IMAT in time for the July 2012 802 Plenary.
NOTE: During the 802.3 and 802.1 interim meetings in May (next week)
these groups will continue to use the "old" IMAT application for
attendees and will notice some new features for the Manager access.
The following link will provide you with the screen shots and
functionality of the "New" IMAT application.
https://mentor.ieee.org/etools_documentation/bp/IMAT
Some major improvements made to the "new" IMAT include: - One
application/one url for both manager and attendee access: The url for
accessing IMAT (both Attendee and Officer) will be
https://imat.ieee.org No delay between meeting information update and
attendee view Immediate updates to attendance information - Manager
Access enhancements All reports are now in one location "Delete All"
breakout capability Meeting Room location entered will show up on
attendee view Wiki for venue information Ability to delete a meeting
where attendance was logged. Attendee will receive an email
notification. All Officers (as entered in myProject) have read/write
access to IMAT Manager - Attendee enhancements Overlapping timeslots,
if chosen will warn the attendee before continuing Affiliation
confirmation screen added New look and feel New URL for access
The team will continue to work through the beta test next week and
continue with a few more enhancements to ensure a successful Plenary
session in July. Thanks to the team for moving this project along in a
timely manner and giving 100% to the accuracy and success of the
application.
The IMAT Team: Volunteers: Rick Alfvin, Jon Rosdahl, Adrian Stephens
Staff: Bob LaBelle, Greg Marchini, Jeric Newby
