Bob:
I'm aware of P1902.1, an RFID project nearing Sponsor ballot. It isn't
addressed in PAR 7.1, and it seems to me to have significant overlap in
multiple functional areas: low data rate, high density of RFID tags, etc.
it would be appropriate to address the differences (which I'm sure there
are) when requesting another RFID project.

Subject: [802SEC] 802.15 PARs and 5Cs for DFW
EC Colleagues-
802.15 is in the process of wrapping up 3 projects; 2 amendments to 15.4
(4c and 4d) and a mesh networking Recommended Practice (15.5) and is in the
process of starting 3 new ones. In compliance with the 30 day rule, we will
be putting forward three new PARs for consideration in DFW which can be
found at
<http://ieee802.org/15/pending.html>http://ieee802.org/15/pending.html.
Two of these new projects are proposed PHY amendments to 15.4. One
addresses the Active RFID space and the other addresses the need for
standards in SmartGrid to Building networks. The latter has been coined
(perhaps inappropriately) as Neighborhood Area Networking given that it is
intended for a very specific low data rate 15.4 class applications such as
ones needed in Utility/SmartGrid networks which are neighborhood oriented
but are not a general purpose broadband network.
The third project is a proposal to develop an 802.15 standard based on
Visible Light Communications.
Let me know if you have any questions/comments.
Regards
Bob
