[802SEC] request for help--'active' projects and currently in-use portions of WG standards
Dear WG Chairs,
I'm putting together a tutorial for the Standards Education Committee which will be enumerating the scope and purpose of the in-use portions of a WGs approved standards and active projects.
Identifying the active projects is relatively easy (these are the approved PARs for each WG/TAG), but identifying the currently in-use portions of the WG standards is a much more difficult subjective task--especially for larger standards in publication.
Therefore I request some help from those of you that have approved standards--to the best of your ability, please describe the portions of your standard that you believe are currently in-use.
By 'in-use' I mean the portion of your approved standard that is incorportated into networking products are used today or products that may be under development.
By 'portion of approved standard', I mean a project that was an amendment, e.g., 10BASET or 802.11b, or a stand alone standard, if amendments were never produced.
I hope the request is clear enough. Thanks for your help. If you don't mind, I'll circulate the list once I compile it to have you verify its accuracy. I'm trying to finish the first draft by the end of next week.
Regards,
--Paul
