Re: [802SEC] It doesn't have to be either or
If that was the question you wanted answered, then why didn't you request it be added before the survey? At this point, we need to work with the data we have. Rome is above the ceiling that survey respondents said was acceptable.
The question was: "5) Should there be a hard price ceiling for nNA plenary venue costs?" Rome is above the number that 62% of those who responded deemed was the acceptable upper limit. I don't see how this is an extrapolation.
If we exceed the upper limit, will they show up for the meeting? Probably yes - at least for most of our active participants - many don't feel they have the choice of skipping a meeting - but that doesn't mean that it is okay to ignore the guidance they gave us.

Buzz,
You can extrapolate from the data all you like. The fact is that the members were not asked if Rome was acceptable and we do not know the answer to that question.

Bob, You are conveniently ignoring the responses to Question #5 which asked about hard price ceilings for nNA venues. May I point out that:
- 40% of all respondents said that Room Rates must be ˜$250US/night & Registration Fee ˜$600US, and
- 22% of respondents said that Room Rates must be ˜ $350 US/night & Registration Fee ˜ $800US.
That would seem to indicate that 62% of all respondents would not approve of the Rome venue.
That's pretty conclusive in my book. Our members have spoken ... we just need to listen !!! :-)
Thanx, Buzz

I have a point to make with regard to the survey. Several times it has
been said that the survey shows that our members have told us they won't
go to Rome. A variety of reasons have been asserted for this
conclusion, the most frequent being the higher cost of that venue.
My problem with this "conclusion" is that the survey data do not support
it, in any way that you might interpret that data. The survey asked the
members to choose between Vancouver and Rome. The members did. The
survey did not ask the follow-up question of "with these prices, would
you go to Rome, anyway?" or even "Would you go to Rome at these prices?".
Absent an answer to that question, any conclusion that our members have
rejected going to Rome is only an assertion by the speaker and not
supported by any data that we have gathered.
