What is your objection? The speakers are not representing their WGs, but
simply making a presentation as individual experts on what's going on in
their WGs and how the standards process works.
I was invited to give a tutorial presentation on 802.22 (its
goals/objectives, the technology that we're developing, where we are in the
process, etc.) when this was originally scheduled for Oct in Chicago, then
the date changed to conflict with the BoG meeting in Florida and I had to
bow out.
I also gave a similar tutorial at the CAG/BoG Seminar in Tunis last May (a
long way to fly to speak for about a half an hour :-)
I don't think that any of us need EC "approval" to present factual, tutorial
information on our projects in appropriate venues. I also think that it's
desirable since it informs people who may be unaware of, but once informed
may be interested in participating in, our work.
