Dear Dr. Hayes:
Recognizing exceptional achievements in our profession, by both individuals and organizations, is an important part of the mission of the IEEE. Each year the IEEE Awards Board recommends a select group of recipients to receive the IEEE's most prestigious honors. It is my pleasure to inform you that the IEEE Board of Directors has named you the recipient of the 2007 IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award with the following citation:
"For outstanding leadership in the development and gobal acceptance of IEEE 802.11 wireless local area network standards."
Specific details regarding the award and plans for its presentation will be mailed separately within a short time by the IEEE Awards Staff.
On behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors, I extend our heartfelt congratulations on your achievements and our appreciation that you have made the IEEE a home for your technical and professional activities.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Lightner
