Hi Pat, OK, for one more question: Pat, the good news is, as I understand it, that the new AP1242s are already designed to be firmware upgradeable to support the 802.11n NextGen standard, which provides >100Mb/s through-put (not just data rate) so I would expect that we would get significantly longer service life than the 3 years we got with the AP1231s that needed a hardware upgrade to support 802.11a at 54Mb/s max data rate. Products do tend to get better and cheaper as we get further along on the learning curve. But I do think you are exactly right that we should establish an ongoing budgetary amount for equipment upgrades per session so we don't have to rely on raising dues to raise money for equipment upgrades over time. When you consider all our other equipment (e.g. LCD Projectors, Printers, Notebook computers, etc.) I think we might actually want to have a $10K per session budgetary amount to keep us on an even schedule.
More questions ??? Fire away. :-)
Thanx, Buzz

In making this purchase, we are replacing (or at least relegating to a back-up role) APs that we bought three years ago because of features/modes that they lack. Is this what we need to expect long term
- i.e. in order to have an adequately up to date network we will find we have to roll the equipment about every three years? Do we need to budget 25K a year or 8K a plenary for equipment?
