[802SEC] FW: [802-11WG] CBP-SG 20 April telecon announcement
EC Members,
I just wanted to forward this email to the EC. I sent a reminder to the Contention-based protocol (CBP) study group to use the new 5C in the current P&P. Are there any other new wireless study groups to which I should send a similar message?
Steve

Peter et. al.,
I need to remind any new wireless study groups to use the new Five Criteria in the current 802 Policies and Procedures. You can find the new P&P on the 802 web site:
http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/devdocs.html
At the March plenary closing executive committee meeting there were two new PARs up for consideration by the EC and neither study group had used the new 5C. Since the changes to the 5C were to address coexistence, I was requested by the 802 chair (Paul Nikolich) to remind all new wireless study groups that when they do submit a PAR to please use the new 5C in the most recent P&P.
Regards,
Steve

Hi,
The Contention-Based Protocol Study Group is holding weekly
teleconferences, next at Wednesday April 20th, at 1PM ET.
Please send petere@ieee.org an email if you may attend and did not
attend the previous one, so I can get the right size conference bridge,
and spell your name correctly in the minutes ;-)
The previous call discussed the FCC Memorandum, Opinion and Order on
3650-3700 MHz use (05-56)
http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-05-56A1.pdf
and

and
the FCC Report and Order on Cognitive Radio (05-57)
http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-05-57A1.pdf
and the minutes are posted as
11-05-0331-00-0000-cbp-sg-telecon-minutes-13-april.doc
If you do have a presentation you would like to give, please post it
on the 802.11 document server and send me an email. If you would
volunteer to take minutes, please send me an email, so I can send you a
template with the attendees information. Directions for accessing the
802.11 document server follow in a postscript.

Contention-based protocol. A protocol that allows multiple users to
share the same spectrum by defining the events that must occur when two
or more transmitters attempt to simultaneously access the same channel
and establishing rules by which a transmitter provides reasonable
opportunities for other transmitters to operate. Such a protocol may
consist of procedures for initiating new transmissions, procedures for
determining the state of the channel (available or unavailable), and
procedures for managing retransmissions in the event of a busy channel.
