Re: [802SEC] +++EC MOTION+++ ENDS 22 OCT+++Approval of IEEE P802.11p news release
I also vote disapprove. While I agree with most of Roger's edits, I
disagree with a couple as noted in the attached.
I don't know which PAR Roger was reviewing, but the PAR on the 802.11
site is a draft and it disagrees substantially with the approved PAR
recorded in the NesCom database.
I have added edits to those recommended by Roger and indicated where I
disagree with his. The two items that are the basis of my disapprove
vote though are:
1. The release is improperly skewed to lead the reader to think this is
a safety standard, that is contrary to what is stated in the approved
PAR.
2. If this project is balloted as an amendment to IEEE Std 802.11-1999
and other schedules hold there is a serious project management problem.
P802.11REVam is scheduled to complete before P802.11p goes to sponsor
ballot. While the web form at various times required that the year be
filled in (making it difficult to properly indicate revision and
amendment phasing), there is no reason to perpetuate in a press release
something that that I am assuming is not part of the plan for amending
and revising IEEE Std 802.11.
