Re: [802SEC] withdrawn standards
If we don't have to have a WG for a Stabilized standard, then I can't see any reason why IEEE would need a Working Group for an IEEE publication of a non-IEEE standard.
I'm not sure why I care whether we do it now or next year except it just seems tidier.

I see that we are all relying on fuzzy recollections on what the EC did,
but my recollection is that we ran the reaffirmation on these two
because the Stabilized Standard classification was not available at the
time (the preferred approach) and was not expected to be before
administrative withdrawl.
I do not know of any plans to activate work on these two documents, so
is there any reason we should not stabilize them now? That then would
allow us to disolve the WGs.
802.12 is a sticker problem as shown by David Law's research. If staff
says we should keep the WG alive until ISO withdraws the document I
guess my clean sweep won't work.
