[STDS-802-24] 802.24 Chair elections to be held at March 2015 plenary meeting.



Dear IEEE 802 community

It is my intention to step down as IEEE 802.24 TAG Chair at the end of the March 2015 Plenary meeting (I intend to remain as 2nd Vice Chair). Accordingly, IEEE 802.24 will hold elections for the Chair of IEEE 802.24.

This email is also call for nominations for the Chair. Nominations for the Chair position shall be sent to the 802.24 reflector, cc the IEEE 802.24 TAG Chair and IEEE 802.24 TAG Vice Chair.

The period for nominations closes at midnight, ET, 6 March, 2015.

If there is more than one nominee for Chair, each nominee will be allotted time to speak during the IEEE 802.24 meeting, Monday, 9 March 2015.

Elections will be held during the IEEE 802.24 meeting, Tuesday, 10 March 2015.

According to the IEEE LMSC Policies and Procedures, 4.0
"All members of the Sponsor shall be members or affiliates of the IEEE-SA and either the IEEE or the IEEE Computer Society." A TAG Chair is a member of the sponsor and so this requirement applies.

According to the IEEE LMSC Policies and Procedures, 4.1

"Any person to be confirmed or elected by the Sponsor shall, prior to confirmation or election by the Sponsor, file with the Recording Secretary a letter of endorsement from their supporting entity. This letter is to document several key factors relative to their participation on the Sponsor and is to be signed by both the Sponsor member and an individual who has management responsibility for the Sponsor member. This letter shall contain at least the following: a) Statement of qualification based on technical expertise to fulfill the assignment b) Statement of support for providing necessary resources (e.g., time, travel expenses to meetings), and c) Recognition that the individual is expected to act in accordance with the conditions stated in Voting Guidance subclause of the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee Operations Manual “as both a professional and as an individual expert.”

In addition, a letter stating affiliation, signed by the person to be confirmed is required.

If the individual who has been elected is confirmed by the EC, the term of office begins after the close of the EC closing plenary meeting.
